DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIP
NANTES - BORDEAUX

WELCOME TO NANTES!

Day 1

Sunday August 2

15:00

You are free to join the hotel from 3:00 p.m. to settle in and prepare your bike for the adventure ahead. Why not take a little warm-up tour along the Loire, on the Erdre, or around ÃŽle-de-Nantes?

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Your trip begins at 6:00 PM with your first group meeting at the entrance to the aparthotel. There you will meet your guide and discuss the next five days of cycling from Nantes to Bordeaux.

You will then have your first group dinner in central Nantes, where you will get to know the other group participants, before hitting the road the next morning.

FIELDS AND STREAMS

Day 2

Monday August 3

Nantes

The rock on yon

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

79 km

Once breakfast has been taken at the hotel with the other participants and your luggage left at reception, you will be ready to roll!

Direction the very beginning of the Canal du Midi near the city center. As you walk along it in the morning, the sounds of the city give way quite quickly to the sounds of birds and waves of barges.

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Your route follows the canal quietly all day long, largely shaded on its two banks by immense old lime trees. The towpath on which you will ride is paved for the first 50 km approximately, it is afterwards in dirt. You will spend the night in Castelnaudary, a town built around the Grand Bassin, the largest inland port on the canal.

DAMWS AND BAYS

Day 3

Tuesday August 4

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

The rock on yon

La Rochelle

86 km

On your second day crossing the Vendée countryside, agricultural fields give way to salt marshes as you approach the Atlantic coast. On two wheels, you will have the chance to cross these basins on narrow tracks, along the dikes through the bodies of water as far as the eye can see.

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Towards the end of the route, you will pass through a series of coastal villages, quite distinct from the small agricultural towns that you will have seen so far.

Your destination for the day is La Rochelle, with its imposing watchtowers guarding the entrance to its picturesque inner harbor, located in the heart of the city. We invite you to take the time to explore the old town center, or to stroll along the water, where you will appreciate the vast marina which can accommodate over 5,000 boats.

BEACHES AND BRIDGES

Day 4

Wednesday August 5

La Rochelle

Royan

86 km

Your route for the day begins by following the Eurovélo 1 cycling route which runs along the coast from the center of La Rochelle. The marina, numerous beaches, a range of fishing infrastructure ... you will undoubtedly appreciate this taste of the French Atlantic coast!

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

The inland town of Rochefort is the obvious choice for a dinner break, with its pretty little port on the Charente. With luck you will observe the Hermione, the legendary three-master, moored at her home port near the central plaza. Otherwise, you can at least admire its twin permanently moored to the neighboring quay, installed as a hook-mast course!

Rather than following the EV1 along the coast, you rather drive directly south through many farming villages, with a section directly on the regional to cross the Seudre estuary and its oyster crops that s 'extend to the horizon.

Even if for a while you will share the road with the highest traffic between Nantes and Bordeaux, you will be rewarded with your early arrival at the seaside town of Royan. You will certainly enjoy this city which derives from its regional reputation as a vacation destination, or perhaps you will prefer to simply relax on one of the many beaches that have made it so famous.

FERRY AND FOREST

Day 5

Thursday August 6

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Royan

Lacanau-Ocean

80 km

Our fifth day by bike begins with a crossing of the Gironde estuary, where we arrive on a completely different landscape on the Medoc peninsula. Our route today is entirely on Eurovélo 1, mostly on shaded green roads through old pine forests.

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

A series of villages and seaside campsites will punctuate your route through the forest. The villages offer both meal breaks, or even simply ice cream breaks, while reminding us of how many beaches you will have traveled during the day!

We spend the night near the seaside village of Lacanau-Océan, with its relaxed attitude that promotes real beach holidays.
We invite you to make the most of the beach!

FROM SAND TO CITY

Day 6

Friday August 7

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Lacanau-Ocean

Bordeaux

70km

Today you will be driving through pine forests, like yesterday, except this time you will go straight to the big city. You pass a few small towns on the way, but quite suddenly you find yourself in the Bordeaux suburbs. Up to the center, you will share the network of cycle routes with city dwellers, who use it on a daily basis.

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Take time to explore this beautiful city after your bike is dropped off at your centrally located hotel.

In the evening, we will gather for our group dinner, to celebrate the end of this trip and the distance covered by bike the previous five days.

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Congratulations on driving from Nantes to Bordeaux!
